Daily Conservative Lifestyle Guide
* * * If you power your
life with Green Energy, you do not have to worry about a number of
these reminders, but they can still save money
- Bundle errands to save energy and time
- Carpool when possible or use public transportation
- Walk or ride a bike - it's healthy for you and the environment!
- Keep vehicles tires properly inflated
- Recycle don't trash E-waste and other materials
- Use
water and all resources wisely, yet remember to exercise good health
practices such as washing hands thoroughly (at least 20 seconds with
warm water and soap) to prevent the spread of germs and disease
- Wear sweaters and use fans to reduce central heating and cooling
- Turn off unused lights when not in a room for extended periods
- Turn off electronic equipment and appliances when no longer in use
- Unplug unused transformers and other
electronic devices when no longer being used (power strips with
switches are easiest and safest)
- Turn off or set your computer into hibernation when not using it for a while
- Set
your computer's power settings to automatically turn off its screen,
enter standby, or hibernate to save energy (you can usually find these
settings in Power Options under Control Panel)

- Replace conventional light bulbs with LEDs (the
safest solution) or compact fluorescents (which contain trace amounts
of mercury and should be disposed of properly)
- LCD flat screens use less energy than
conventional CRT screens just as laptop computers use less energy than
conventional computers
- When purchasing new electrical appliances and devices, look for the EnergyStar™ compliant logo on them
